- hoggan – unleavened dough filled with pork; also used as a term for a miner’s bag.
- likky – leek.
- mate – meat.
- mate an tiddy oggy – meat and potato pasty.
- neaps – turnips or swede.
- oggy or oggie – a pasty. Thought to derive from ‘hoggan’.
- rutabaga – swede or turnip.
- snap – miner’s meal.
